Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. Many who've never heard of it often confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel was raised in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. At the beginning of her life she hoped to become the next big thing in her career, but a sudden expansion of her body made it impossible. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet, 1 inch." After I surpassed my male counterparts, that's when I gave up. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the case of Brugel it was an urging from her teacher of drama.
